Good news!

I e-mailed my post about the little crocheted lamb to the shop owner, Lyly, of LuvlyGurumi, and she decided to offer 5 free patterns to one of my lucky readers! I wish I could win!

If you haven’t heard of amigurumi, it’s a word for knitted or crocheted stuffed dolls. Lyly sells PDF crochet patterns with easy instructions and pictures to make these lovely dolls. In her own words, “One special day, I discovered amigurumi and it was instant love. Everything made me go ‘Awww’ and a smile would quickly appear on my face. I decided then that I had to learn how to make these cuties myself. A couple months later, I was doing exactly that… and now that I’ve started, I simply can’t stop.”

The wonderful people at CSN stores –a woman named Jocelyn, to be precise—have offered me the opportunity to review a product from one of their many (over 200!) online stores. I haven’t decided yet what I’ll choose to review. There are SO many options! They have furniture, lighting, kitchen gadgets, and so much more. Will we finally decide on a nice lamp for our living room and replace the one that broke during our move 2 years ago? Will I get myself a nice crock pot with a removable lining so I can stop griping about mine which has no removable lining and is a huge pain to clean? Will I pamper my husband with a sleek leather briefcase? Will I get my oldest a pair of wee squeaks shoes for her growing feet (and undoubtedly have to get a pair for my youngest because of the certain coveting that will occur)? I just don’t know. But look forward to a review here as soon as I figure it out!

On a side note, I am amazed at all the Jocelyns I’ve encountered online lately. When I was growing up, my name was so rare. I had to pronounce it for people 4 or 5 times, and it still got butchered. I don’t think I met anyone named Jocelyn until I was pregnant with my first baby, and she was in our birthing class. But now, Jocelyns are just popping out of the woodworks left and right. It’s kind of fun, because I’m sure they’ve experienced the same feeling of rarity, and now it’s like we have an automatic rapport. Plus, all the other Jocelyns I’ve met so far are awesome :)

It’s That Time of Year

Oh. Sorry. You caught me singing Christmas songs by The Carpenters.

What I meant to say was it’s that time of year when, if we haven’t already, we have to start thinking about Christmas cards.

I love being able to send out Christmas cards. Gathering all the addresses can be a bit of a chore, but since I can’t give gifts to everyone I know, a Christmas card is a fun way to say Merry Christmas. I even end up wishing I could send more Christmas cards than I actually do. This year, I have a head start on my Christmas cards because of Daylight Designs.

Have you heard of Daylight Designs?

I was lucky enough to win a giveaway from Blessed Little Nest featuring Daylight Designs, and I’m so happy with what I got! First off, Melissa (Mel), the shop owner was so easy to work with. When I won the giveaway, we had just had our photos taken, so I didn’t have them yet. (I know. I said I’d show them off, but I haven’t gotten around to it. That will be my next post. Promise.) I asked if I needed to use an older photo or if she would be okay with waiting until I got our photos back, and she was totally fine with waiting. Almost a month later, I sent her a photo with my request. She sent me a proof the very next day, and I had my cards the next week. I am so happy with how they turned out!

Since my cards were part of a giveaway, she printed and mailed them to me with envelopes. Her listings in her shop are for the card design. You send her a picture, she puts it in the design and sends you a file that you can print as many as you want using your favorite photo developer. But if you prefer to have the cards printed out, she also has that option available.
